wandering in wonder

sharing, on a pilgrims journey

you light up my life – Emmaus

it’s a surprising thing (and was the topic of one of my first posts!) that people can show so much of God’s light to us – sometimes things are dark and shadowed and we become accustomed to it, accustomed to coping, being ‘strong’, ‘managing’ – like getting used to seeing in the dark – and then we meet someone, or someone says something, and it’s like a light is switched on. we suddenly see in colour again.

It reminds me of the two who met Jesus on the Emmaus road – they’d given up hope, absorbed in discussions around their grief, and didn’t realise Jesus was with them… then suddenly…

I pray today I’ll recognise when Christ meets with me in other people… and if I realise in time, I’ll thank them for being people who ‘light up my life’… who bring me, expected or unexpected, the light of Christ.
